Try this.
Make a 1 line macro.
The single line is a formula line.
The formula is "char(33)".

This should return the ascii value of "!", and of course we all know the exclamation point is PH's way of letting you know your formula bombed out. However in this case, your formula didn't bomb out but rather worked as it should have.

I have two Onkyo receievers that I control via RS-232. Their protocal makes extensive use of "char(33)". PH handles these exclamation points just fine, but when you look at your log file, it looks like you have a bunch of formula errors when you truly do not have them.

When I verify I get:

Execution time: 0.000 seconds.
     The formula evaluates to: char(33)

The log file does not produce an error in my case. Am I missing something?

2 possible things....

First, make sure your log file settings are checked for formula errors.

Second, run the formula without the quotes.

Forgot to check Formulas on my test system. Took the quotes out and got this result:

Execution time: 0.001 seconds.
     The formula evaluates to: !

Ran the macro and got no error message.

After you put the check mark in the Formula Error Box, a re-start or re-initialze may be needed before your logging happens properly.

Damn, you’d think this was Monday. Forgot to Init. I wonder if it is related to the formula error we get on Insteon in or out.
